Writing a Play

First we will do some exercises to help you begin writing a play.

1. Take the index card that has a description of a person you observed and complete the following task:

Creating a Character Now think of a character that you are planning to use in your play and do the same exercise again.

2. Once completed, do exercise #1 to begin writing some dialogue.

3. For homework:

Write a scene in which a single character moves through one location in a limited period of time, saying nothing, and makes a single change that moves the story forward.

Read this workshop and complete the homework assignment. We will act out the scene you did for homework in class tomorrow.
